La Voz Kids #LVKBloggers Day

Mami Innovative Media and Mami of Multiples had the pleasure of working recently with Telemundo to help create a La Voz Kids #LVKBloggers Day for noted bloggers and influencers at Universal Studios Orlando.

La Voz Kids is the world’s most exciting Spanish-language singing competition television program featuring contestants aged 7-15 broadcasted weekly on Telemundo. The selected bloggers were treated to:

  • Attend a live taping of La Voz Kids featuring performances from all three coaches (Natalia Jimenez, Roberto Tapia and Prince Royce) and the finalists!

Las Audiciones A Ciegas

Durante las AUDICIONES A CIEGAS, la decisión de los coaches estará basada únicamente en la interpretación vocal de los participantes y no en su apariencia. Los coaches escucharán cantar a los participantes pero no los verán actuar ya que estarán sentados de espaldas a los participantes en sillas rotativas. Si alguno de los coaches están impresionado con la interpretación vocal de alguno de los participantes, él o ella presionará un botón para seleccionar a ese participante para su equipo. En ese momento la silla del coach se dará vuelta para que pueda ver al participante que ha escogido. Si más de un coach presiona el botón de un mismo participante, entonces le tocará al participante escoger con quien le gustaría trabajar. Si ninguno de los coaches escoge a un participante en particular, ese participante será eliminado de la competencia.

Las Batallas

Una vez que los equipos estén formados, comienzan las batallas. Los coaches se dedicarán a entrenar a sus equipos brindándoles consejos y, junto a artistas famosos que ofician como asesores, compartiendo secretos sobre cómo llegaron a triunfar como participante. Durante la ronda de batallas, los coaches seleccionarán a tres miembros de su propio equipo para que, juntos, se enfrenten cantando una misma canción delante de una audiencia en vivo.

La Etapa Final

En la última ronda de la competencia, cada semana los mejores participantes de cada uno de los equipos competirán unos contra otros. La teleaudiencia y los coaches decidirán quienes continúan en la competencia. Al terminar la competencia, un participante será declarado “La Voz Kids” y recibirá un contrato de grabación y un premio en dinero para apoyar su educación.

It’s almost hard to believe that it’s already November and the festive holiday season is upon us.  In between the family gatherings and gift shopping is the constant atmosphere of cooking and making holiday dishes.  I have used the following Breakfast Casserole recipe for holiday and family gathering especially during the holidays. It’s not only simple to make but can easily be modified or customized to taste and preference.

Easy Recipe: Breakfast Casserole

Cook Time: 1 Hour and 15 Minutes
Servings: 12
Ingredients
1 pound bacon
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 (16 ounce) package frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 7×11 inch casserole dish.
  • Fry the bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Crumble.
  • In a large bowl beat together eggs and milk. Mix in cheese, bacon, onion and green pepper. Stir in the thawed hash browns. Pour mixture into prepared casserole.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 30 minutes until eggs have set.

Suggestions
Substitute bacon for low-sodium bacon or turkey sausage
Use microwaveable or pre-cooked bacon instead of bacon to fry
Pre-bake or cook hash browns for a crisper texture before adding to recipe
Layer hash brown when baking and start from the bottom of the pan
Use hash brown or potatoes o’brien that are mixed with onions and peppers
Add different flavor of cheese

Blogging, Digital Marketing and Social Media In Our Backyards with #FLBlogCon13

As a professional blogger and business owner, I often get asked what advice would I give to new bloggers or new digital marketers.  My answer will always include for them to attend workshops and conferences.  As a former PR executive for the federal government, conferences, tradeshows, workshops etc were an essential part of marketing and business goals.  The educational resources and the networking opportunities were ones that could only be found when attending events.  The same concept applies to the digital media world – bloggers and digital influencers learn, connect and network at conferences.

Blogging and social media conferences occur throughout the year all over the country so it’s always a very good (and affordable) opportunity to find a local conference.  Last weekend I had the pleasure of once again speaking at the Florida Bloggers & Social Media Conference which was held at the digital-friendly Full Sail University.

This year I had the great opportunity to speak with my fellow Social Influenz co-founders, Yadira and Sili on a 2.0 version of working with brands (that included resources and tips for submitting a professional presentation back to the brand after a pitch has been approved).

Pat Williams was the opening keynote and shared the following valuable life and business:

  • Think the right kind of thoughts because you what you think about all day long will become a reality in your life.
  • Say the right kind of words. The way we speak will also become a reality in your lives. Words have POWER!
  • Be specific in goal setting. Create short-term, mid-range and long-term goals. Write them down, review and revise with a deadline.
  • You are responsible for your own attitude and actions. Determine to have a good attitude.
  • Seek out the RIGHT kind of friends. You will become like the people you surround yourself with.
  • Take hurts, pain, setbacks, disappointments and  turn them into strengths. Learn from them and make them your strengths (and not your weakness).
  • Go the second mile. It’s biblically based – do twice what is expected of you in every situation personal and business.
  • Don’t have a sense of entitlement. The principle of hard work – What else Can I Do? What Else Can I Offer?
  • Don’t give up! Walt Disney went bankrupt 12 times; had nervous breakdowns; but NEVER gave up and PRESERVED!
  • Character still counts – Integrity, Responsibility, Courage, be aware of the influence you possess. Live your life by the faith phenomenon.

There were so many great presentations on everything from how to build a better media kit to informative social media success takeaways from closing keynote Pam Moore.

Helping Dads (and Families) Keep on Track with the #WhirlpoolWashsquad App

The world of blogging, digital marketing, social media, public relations, online business, work-at-home-moms, etc. can be a very powerful and helpful resource to a household.  The parameters of essentially ‘being your own boss’ provides flexibility, financial assistance into a family budget, increased opportunities, networking and overall enhanced living.  The perks, while wonderful, are at the cost of much hard work, determination, long hours, travel and many occurrences that require time away from home.  When a mompreneur is away on business, its often left to spouses (or other family members) to carry on the home responsibilities, including doing the laundry.

Laundry can accumulate at the blink of an eye when you have small children or active teens. A simple arts and crafts project can require at least two pants and shirts changes.  After school sport activities can mean an entire dirty uniform right down to the smelly socks.  For a Dad, who is trying to do his best while Mom is away, laundry can be a bit overwhelming and when the kids don’t want to help it has the tendency to become quite nightmarish.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that ‘since there is an app for everything’ that Whirlpool created the Whirlpool Washsquad App.  Easy-to-use and convenient, the app has some great features:

    • No more fighting with the kids about who is going to do what with the laundry. Each kid can get their own assigned chore to complete.
